Ndabezitha Community Projects

Ndabezitha: the one who brings the news

The name Ndabezitha is a title that carries weight and honor. It’s used to address Zulu Royalty and high-ranking individuals. Ndabezitha Community Projects is a Christian based organization. All activities are based on Christian values.

Vision and Mission

Vision: Through football and educational programs, to shape, teach and guide the male youth in all aspects of life, so that they grow into responsible and respectable men. Mission: Using football as a tool to reach the youth. To take them of the street and teach them valuable lessons in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Mthoko and Esther Zulu

Mthoko and Esther have a lot of experience in urban youth development and rehabilitation. They have both worked for a number of similar organizations, such as Youth for Christ YFC/KZN where the two met. Mthokozisi and Esther Zulu both serve as the organization’s directors.

Formal non-profit organization

Ndabezitha Community Projects is a non-profit organization registered in terms of the Companies and Intellectual Property Corporation (CIPC) of the Republic of South Africa. Based in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.

Ndabezitha Football Club

Football is one of the most popular sports in South-Africa. Ndabezitha Football Club reaches out to hard-to-reach male youth. The boys become part of Ndabezitha Football Club. The club is registered under South African Football Association, and competes in the local league. Through regular football training sessions to build relationships, create encouragement, motivation and guidance.

Monthly educational programs:

  • Drugs and substance abuse
  • Studies
  • Work
  • Teenage pregnancies
  • HIV and STI’s.

Two major challenges

Funds

Everything cost money. We ask the boys to pay a small contribution for transport. Some are able to pay and others are not. There are much more cost which are not provided for.

Mentors

We would love to have more mentors / coaches working with us and the boys. But it is hard to find a person that is willing to shape the youth. It is easy to train a team, but not easy to mentor the youth.

Future plans

We notice the gap after high school. Universities are full and applicants get rejected. Work in South-Africa is scarce and hard to get. A lot of youth finishes high school and get stuck. We as an organization would like to breach that gap in the future.

Ideas:

  • Networking with colleges and universities
  • Collaboration with other organizations.
  • Welding classes
  • Creating jobs
